Drinking beer is one thing that has stayed with man ever since his first alcoholic beverage concoction. Today, from the heartland of Bavaria in Germany, to pubs in North America, to the cold of Antarctica, to the scorching deserts of Africa, drinking alcoholic beverages is one of those things across the world that is able to permeate social, cultural, and territorial boundaries. Alcoholic beverages that are the product of brewing processes often bond people together, allowing them to touch bases while dusting off stories of the past.
What Brewing Is Today
The term brewing today is applied to the process of making beer, although the term is loosely applied to the production or fermentation of any alcoholic drink in general. The main process involved in brewing is fermentation, which differentiates it from other processes used in making alcoholic drinks.
Perfect Kit for Family Gatherings
Because alcoholic beverages are commonly shared when the family gathers such as during Thanksgiving or New Year’s Eve, home brewing kit has become very popular because it allows anyone to brew their own drinks. It also affords everyone the opportunity to come up with their own flavor or experiment on new tastes. Moreover, some small pubs and bars brew their own drinks using home brewing kit, which delight the local customers, appreciating the rather homey way in which their drink is prepared.
Make for an Excellent Business Opportunity
Home brewing kit supports several economies because it gives anyone the opportunity to start their own business. It allows families to start their own beer houses, concocting their drinks from home brewing kit that can be easily bought anywhere. Because they don’t buy their supply from dealers but rather make it themselves, they can come up with flavors that actually fit the desired flavor preferred by customers. As such, unlike other beer houses, they can easily adjust their offering to the demands of the time, allowing their business to cope with vacillations in the market as well as in customer preference.
Cheaper than Buying Stocks
In some aspects, home brewing kit is cheaper than buying readily-prepared drinks, which don’t take into consideration factors such as the flavor of the drink, the quantity, and the alcoholic content. Moreover, beer drinkers are sometimes critical of the malt content on their brew so that the proper combination must be thoroughly observed at all times to ensure that the drink will be consumed with gusto. On the other hand, when one brews his drink from home brewing kit, all factors are placed under his control, giving him opportunity to make changes as he go with the process.
Because of the popularity of home brewing kit, they are now proffered on several online dealers. Sales from them have been very encouraging, signifying that home brewing kit has successfully captured the tastes of drinkers.

Home Brewing Kit: The Secret to a Personalized Beer

posted on in supplies

A long day of manual work, days burdened with deadlines, a week of stressful meetings and decision making, and pounding hours of intellectual discourses would always be best ended with a bottle or pint of beer. Birthdays, weddings, and gatherings of friends and kinsmen would always be merrier with beer. The joys of beer are countless. The greater would be the pleasure when they are homemade. Imagine relaxing with a pint of beer that you personally mixed with ingredients you chose to your liking. This is all possible if you have a home brewing kit.
Producing Your Own Beer at Home
There are basically three phases in producing beer at home: brewing, fermentation, and bottling. With your home brewing kit you could do the following steps in brewing:
▪ Boil water then clean or sanitize your brew pot, stirring spoon, table spoon for measurement, measuring cup, yeast starter jar, fermentor and lid, airlock, and thermometer
▪ Make the sweet pale yellow or reddish liquid malt barley extract called wort.
▪ Cool the wort at a temperature of 18 to 32 degrees Celsius
While the wort is being cooled, rehydrate the dried ale yeast by mixing pre-boiled water and yeast, and when done, cover it with plastic wrap. When the wort has cooled, you may proceed to the next phase which is fermentation. Pour the rehydrated yeast into a bucket then add the cooled wort. Siphon the mixture into the fermentor. Do not suck on the siphon because you might contaminate the mix. Seal the fermentor with the lid and store it. Use an airlock for better results. Keep them in a safe and cool place for two weeks or more as you desire. When you bottle your fermentation be sure that your bottles and caps are well-sanitized. Prepare the priming sugar that you would mix with the beer that you fermented. Add the flavor of your choice. Store your bottled beer at room temperature. After another two weeks, they are ready for consumption.
A Closer Look on Home Brewing
Beer may be brewed at home using a home brewing kit as long as the product is for personal consumption and not for commercial distribution. A lot of environmentalists in fact support home brewing of beer because it reduces the negative impacts that are brought about by mass production and distribution. Home brewing of beer is practiced by a lot of people for the following reasons:
▪ Cheaper costs
▪ Customized or personalized tastes
▪ Total control over the alcohol content
▪ The enjoyment of non-pasteurized beer
Home Brewed Live Beer
Most commercially distributed beer is pasteurized, which requires it to be cooked. When beer is cooked it loses its natural carbonation, which kills the yeast and result to improper aging. The taste, feel, and color of pasteurized beer are inferior to that which is not pasteurized or what most call as live beer. If you would like to enjoy beer at its natural state, buy a home brewing kit and brew your own.

Home Brewing Kit: for the Best Tasting Brewed Drink

Home brewing process is almost identical with what is done for commercial beer brewing. The brewers have the option to choose the ingredients they wish to use including those that are being used in brewing beer commercially. So For the Best Tasting Brewed Drink, it is an art to make it at home!
The Brewers’ Different Styles
Home brewing kit is the first step in going through the brewing process. Although there is a starter package to consider, the output depends on the home brewers themselves. The brewers have a hand in controlling everything, different flavors can be added, processes can be altered, and all other styles can be implemented. It is basically the brewer who has the control over his work. There can be high or low amounts of alcohol in the finished product.
Why do people decide on buying a home brewing kit to start a new hobby? We have to admit that when we drink beer or wine or any other alcoholic beverage, we sometime feel that there is something missing in the taste. We are talking about the commercially available alcoholic drinks here. This is probably because most of these beverages are pasteurized unlike a home brewed beer where you could really feel the taste in its natural or live state, because of the yeast content.
Commercial or Home Brewed Beer
Commercially distributed beer undergoes pasteurization. This means that the beer is cooked resulting in the removal of natural carbonation. The boiled off alcohol is then collected and is mixed with the pasteurized beer and together is force carbonated. During the process, the yeast is eventually killed making it taste differently from a live beer or a beer that contains live yeast. The live yeast is a big factor in aging the beer, and without it, the aging process is not properly achieved. On the other hand, pasteurization is never done in a home brew, with the help of a home brewing kit. The carbonation present is due to the yeasts’ natural production.
Successful Brewing
In order to make home brewing successful, there is a need to take into account some factors, such as the use of water, malt, and yeast. Beer is basically made up of water so good tasting chlorine-free water should be best used. A home brewing kit includes malt and yeast, which can be the deciding ingredient for a perfect brewed beer. A brewing quality malt and fresh yeast will definitely produce a great tasting home brewed alcoholic drink. And because beer can be prone to infection, sanitizing everything that is in close contact with the beer must be emphasized.
If you decide on making homemade beer, then start off by getting your own home brewing kit from The Grape and Granary. The starter kit comes with malt extract and dried yeast. The drinks that are more popular than beer are tea and water. Many people drink beer because it lessens stress, augments blood flow, maintains the memory power of the brain, prevents stroke, and fends off gallstones. It is also patronized by men and women because it is beneficial to the heart, full of fiber that aids in bowel movement, full of multi-vitamins, healthy for the liver, and a cure for insomnia. What separates it from all alcohol-based drinks is its refreshing and powerful impact in quenching thirst! Another is that great feeling that comes after gulping a bottle or mug of it. It is a dream of every beer drinker to design and brew his own beer that could be shared with colleagues, friends, and family or be enjoyed in solitude. The Hammurabi Code, which is considered as the first written law that humans created, even spoke of beer ration. In Ancient Egyptian civilization, pharaohs and members of the royal family used to drink beer in the evening. In medieval times, alewives brewed beer using homegrown and homemade beer brewing supplies that were brought by knights to foreign lands along with their breads.

▪ Drink light beer to prevent a paunch. What is true is when you drink more than you should, you get to have a paunch, light beer or not.
▪ Returning an unopened bottle of beer to the refrigerator after exposing it to room temperature damages its taste. What is true is when you expose beer to light and air by not consuming after removing the bottle cap damages it.
▪ Better beer is not bitter. What is true is hops, which are used as preservatives, create the bitter taste. The more bitter beer is the longer is its shelf life.
▪ Green bottles are best for beer. What is true is a brown bottle that prevents light from penetrating its surface is best for beer.
▪ Beer is only for men not for women. What is true is it is well-liked both by men and women. It is a very sexist notion that it is very inappropriate for women to drink beer.
